We started Instrumentl because nonprofits deserved better.
We'd each seen the gap from a different side.
Angela served for years as both a grant seeker and a grant maker — running complex work on cobbled-together systems because there were no purpose-built tools for grants.
Gauri had seen what great software could do at Airbnb, and how none of it was reaching nonprofits.
Billions in grant funding moves through America every year, and the people moving it were running on spreadsheets and late nights. So we set out to build the first grant operating system: a vital bridge between grant seekers and the impact they bring to their communities.

The first version of Instrumentl wasn't software. It was Angela, at a kitchen table in Berkeley, hand-matching grants for 200 nonprofits in a weekend. That experiment became the foundation of everything that followed.
From grassroots groups raising their first $25k, to research universities managing 10M+ awards, grant teams rely on us to find, win, and manage their grants. With their trust and partnership, we’ve built a business that's profitable and doubling year-over-year.
In 2025, We raised 55M from Summit Partners to pull the future forward, faster — building an AI-native grant operating system that connects every stage of grant work, from prospecting to award management.
