Brooke Valerino is a freelance grant professional with 23 years of experience finding and securing corporate, foundation and government grants for nonprofit organizations, innovative start-ups and individuals. Brooke has a Mathematics degree, is the author of two medical-genre books (as Brooke Keefer), has produced webinars for clients, and, since 2005, has served as a grant reviewer for state and federal agencies.
In the late 90s, Brooke got her start as a Sales & Marketing team leader for a tech company that made fiber optic components. After three years, she felt a deep calling to enter the nonprofit world. From 2000 to 2010, Brooke was the director of a statewide children's mental health advocacy organization, and from 2010 to 2012, she served as the Division Manager for the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justive. In 2013, after her third son was born, she decided to go the freelance grant writer route and hasn't looked back.
